Matthew 5:3-12 are known as The Beatitutdes. Besides having a poster copy on one bedroom door here at the family house, we have another copy framed in my mother's office. Mt 5:9, "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called 'Children of God'". This implies that those that provoke and promote war are cursed and shall be called "Children of the D'evil". Many Christian fundamentalist leaders encouraged the Bush Jr. Administration to go to war with Saddam Hussein because that would literally satisfy the prophecy of The Revelation re: "the destruction of Babylon" - Ch 14, 16, 17, & all of 18. George Walker Bush Jr., Dick Chainy, and many 'Christians' celebrated this war without any concern of the thousands - maybe a million - killed, wounded, and displaced. Ironically, the Iraqi Christian community has been devasted by this war. The reasons given by Bush Jr. of going to war were, "Al Queda and Osama bin Laden are connected with Saddam Hussein", "Hussein is developing weapons of mass-destruction", "We want to spred democracy to Iraq" were all LIES! (Bush Sr. was never concerned with spreading democracy to Kuwait in the 1st Gulf War - just the opposite - he reinstated the Kuwaiti Royal Family because of their friendships to American oil companies.)
Now these same 'Christian' fundamentalists want to promote war between US-backed Israel and Iran. Some even call for "nuclear weapons should be used first aginst Iran before they attack Israel". 'Throwing the first punch' is never morally correct, i.e. Abraham Lincoln made sure that Federal forces did NOT fire first against Southern Rebels (Southerners fired on Fort Sumter). This attitude of encouraging war with Iran is again prophesied "Armegeddon: war in the Megiddo Valley".
What everyone should know is even more disturbing! The Bible prophesises "1/3 of all people are to be killed as a sign that the Christ is returning to meet 'true Christians' in the sky and wisk them off to the heavens (heaven)". WOW!! Many Right-Wing Bible 'experts' actually want over 2 billion people to be killed so they can somehow have millions of like-minded believers in the literal return of Jesus the Nazarene meet him in the clouds. WTF?! That's completely contrary to the Messiah's teaching, especially in The Beatitudes.
"Blessed are the gentle (meek), for they shall inherit Earth." - Mt 5:5
Now ask yourself, "Am I gentle? Am I a peacemaker?" If the answer is "NO", you will NOT be with the Christ upon his return, and perhaps he HAS returned?!
